Peplums

Peplums are all over the place right now.

I've not been able to make my mind up about the peplum trend, I don't think that they're that flattering as they make your tummy look bigger than it is, but it seems that peplums are here to stay.

Peplums can be found on skirts, tops or dresses and, as demonstrated below, can look really good or really really bad...

It has been given a seal of approval from many celebs, even a royal seal of approval from darling Kate Middleton.

Well, if you can't beat them...join them! The high street offers lots of reasonably priced examples of the trend. I think it's best to go for a plain fabric as the peplum itself is all the outfit needs.

Is The Backpack Back?

My first experience with backpacks was not good, it was when I started secondary school and the uniform backpack was a National Back Pain Association one. It was the most un-stylish bag in history - seriously! Plus nobody else had bought it so I was the only one with such an ugly backpack.

Is this the least cool backpack ever??
Yes, yes it is
A few weeks later my friend and I cut the straps in half with scissors - I told my mum I had fallen over and it had broken haha.

After that I had a really cool one from Gap Kids, it was pale blue and only had one strap so it went across the body with a mobile phone holder for the cool kids!

*Not the backpack I had, but how cute are these guys?!
Since then I've always used handbags for school and college - but it's undeniable that backpacks are much better for your back rather than having the weight of all your books just on one shoulder.

Boys don't know how lucky they are...

This boy is chirpy because he does not need to weigh up the health benefits vs fashion fail of backpacks
Thankfully backpacks seem to be coming back into the limelight for girls, being seen on lots of celebs with some cute models available in stores!

Kelly Brook For New Look

Kelly Brook has designed a range for the reasonably priced high street chain, New Look. When I first heard about this collaboration I was really excited, Kelly has a curvaceous figure and dresses to really emphasise and flatter her shape.

I mean how amazing is this dress?

The overall feel of the collection is very floral, vintage and British and she looks great modelling every piece, it was clearly designed for people with gorgeous curves like Kelly.

I especially like the full skirts and the length of dresses, as these days it can be tricky to find things which are not skin tight or mini length!

I'm still not sold on the peplum trend, but still a lovely dress

I like the dresses a lot and am considering buying one for a family Christening I have coming up. I like the bustiers, but not sure that realistically I would buy them because as soon as I sit down my tummy would roll over my jeans!

Here's a vid of behind the scenes of the photo shoot!

What do you think of this collection?

Style Crush: Lucy Mecklenburgh

I love The Only Way Is Essex , TOWIE for those of you who don’t know, it’s a scripted reality show in the UK about the girls and boys living in Essex. It’s all about tanning, glamming, vajazzles and looking reem, smelling reem and being reem. (Don’t ask!)

My fave character or ‘cast member’ is Lucy Mecklenburgh. Like all good TOWIE girls she has big hair, bronzed skin and long lashes - but she manages an air of sophistication which often escapes the other cast members.

Something about the slightly longer hemlines, the classy outfit and the gentle tan (rather than the tango look) makes Lucy stand out for me.

Do you watch TOWIE? Who’s your favourite?

Models Own - hedkandi - Ibiza Mix

Models Own recently teamed up with hedkandi to create a range of party nail polishes. I know I'm a little late to this collaboration but it took me so long to find it - seriously it was sold out in Boots for weeks!

My favourite colour is the Ibiza Mix which is a clear paint with a mix of different coloured glittered hexagons. They're quite pastel-y in colour which makes this nail polish stand out from many of the other glitter polishes available.

I first tried it over Revlon's Sunshine Sparkle, it came out less glittery than I had expected and so painted about 3 coats haha.

About a week later I tried it over Barry M's Mint Green which looked much better, plus I only did one coat as I think less is maybe more with this polish.

It cost £5 which I do think is a little pricey but because I love it so much I think it's worth it! The polish stayed on a long time and I wouldn't have needed to change it had it not been for the actual colour polish underneath chipping.
The only slight criticism I have is that it seems to get used up quickly, to achieve a thicker glitter coat it uses up a lot of the polish.

But all in all, this is my new favourite nail polish by an easy mile, I received lots of compliments whilst wearing  Ibiza Mix!

Do you have Ibiza Mix? What colours do you try it with?
