20 Questions

I've been so busy with partying uni this week that I've not been a very good blogger. So I thought I would do a 20 questions post, as suggested by anonymous.

Enjoy!

1. What things can you not leave the house without?

Lip balm is an absolute must for me, plus my purse as you never know when you might need to buy snacks or a nail polish!

2. What is your favourite brand of make-up?
It's hard to pick just one! I really like M.U.A. I think it's just such a great price and I'm never disappointed by the quality. I also love a treat from MAC occasionally!

3. What is your favourite flower?
It's such a romantic gesture to receive any flowers, roses are beautiful although I'm not sure that I would buy them for myself. I think it's Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail who says daisies are the friendliest flower, it's so true!

4. What is your favourite store?
I love Forever 21, it's unusual for me to go in there without making a purchase. But my favourite store just to walk around and be in is Seflridges - I love just to breathe in the luxuries!

5. What is your favourite perfume?
I find I tend to wear a scent to match my mood but I always love to wear Miss Dior by Dior, Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch and Lola by Marc Jacobs.

6. Heels of flats?
I'm a big fan of heels: wedges and a chunky heel during the day and for the night the higher the better!

7. Do you have good grades?
I used to get good grades at school but at Uni I'm not doing quite as well, but I'm in my final year now and I'm determined to do well and make it worth the huge costs!

8. What are your favourite colours?
My fave colours are warm and autumnal and based around pinky purpley hues.

9. Do you like energy drinks?
Ew.  No thanks!

10. Do you drink juice?
Yes, juice is delicios. My fave has to be apple and mango!

11. Do you like swimming?
If by 'swimming' you mean flapping my arms around and not going anywhere then yes. But I can't actually swim properly - I never even got my 5 metre badge!

12. Do you eat fries with a fork?
I guess it depends on the circumstances but wherever I am, I'm sure to pick at a couple of them with my fingers!
With lashings of ketchup, of course!

13. What is your favourite moisturiser?
I have sensitive skin so I always stick with E45.

14. Do you want to get married one day?
Absolutely, 100%

15. Do you get mad easily?
No, not really. I'm a pretty laid back person. But, I am quite neurotic about certain things - especially when it comes to dealing with my boyfriend (bless him).

16. Are you in to ghost hunting?
Mmm hello random question?! NO.

17. Do you have any phobias?
I am literally petrified of spiders. I'll have a bad dream involving one about once a week. I really cannot stand them! They creep me out! Get it?

18. Do you bite your nails?
Absolutely not! I care way too much about my nails to do that! But, I do something equally naughty - whenever my nail polish chips I will peel it and I won't stop until the nail is bare. It's an awful habit and means I leave a trail of chipped nail polish behind me in lectures!

19. Have you ever had a near death experience?
No (touch wood).

20. Do you drink coffee?
I'm one of those people who can't function in the morning until I've had my coffee, I love the stuff!

Birthday Wish List

My cake from last year made by my darling Alice

A week today is my 22nd birthday. I love birthdays but I feel I have reached a point where getting older is no longer fun – like after 21 all your ages are bad old,  not exciting-I-can-do-new-things old, you know?

But, I’m trying to see the positive: presents!
Now I know that none of my family or friends read this blog but I’m still going to post my birthday wish list, even if it is just for you…and me!

Chubby Stick

I’ve wanted one of Clinique’s Chubby Sticks ever since they first came out, after much deliberation I think the colour I would most like is Chunky Cherry or Whoppin’ Watermelon!

H&M Jumper

This fluffy jumper caught my eye a few weeks ago and I was drawn to it instantly due to its colour and texture – it reminds me of a jumper I had when I was a child and my tastes haven’t changed because I still love it. I just think it looks so cosy and warm, perfect for curling up with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book this winter.

Boots

You might have seen my post the other day ‘Birthday Boots’ I really want some ankle boots but I just can’t quite find the perfect ones! But I will not lose hope, I know they are out there somewhere!

Bag

This is a bit of a dream land wish but isn’t it just to die for? I mean it’s the perfect mix of style, sophistication, flexibility and go. Look how great it looks...

SATC Box Set

Nothing makes me feel better, or crave a cocktail more than watching SATC. Timeless and effortlessly cool, I will love it forever.

Pin Up Jeans

I want to get my hands on these Benetton Pin up jeans! Pass me a pair of the ‘lift’ jeans please!

What do you think of my list, will any of these be going on your xmas list? Or do you have a birthday coming up soon?

Strawberry Ice Cream and Snowflakes

Last night I had a quiet night in.

I cosied up under the covers with a hot milk, Curly Wurly and watched Crazy, Stupid, Love. (Ryan Gosling anyone?)

Because I love to multi-task I also painted my nails.

I’ve been looking forward to using my new Models Own Snowflake for a while now and decided that mid-November is the perfect time.

I only wanted to put Snowflake on an accent nail, so I did some research and came across this photo from Khloe Kardashian’s blog, she’s using Martha Stewart glitter but it closely resembles Snowflake.

So, I tried Snowflake over a deep blackcurrant, like Khloe, but the sparkles turned a Halloween-ish green hue which was just not what I wanted at all.

Next, I tried it Strawberry Ice Cream by Barry M, which I blogged about in one of my first ever posts (Here). Aside from the great name it’s also a great colour, a slightly pale ‘Barbie pink’.

I think this looks really nice and very girly!

What do you think?

Frankfurt Christmas Market

Last night my boyfriend and I went to the Frankfurt Christmas Market. This is one of my favourite traditions in Birmingham.

We had a few beers at home first (to ensure we didn't get too cold!) and then caught the train to Birmingham New Street.

It was a very chilly evening but we soon forgot it as the atmosphere was so warm and inviting! We strolled around the little sheds breathing in the fumes of honeywine, candied cashews and German sausage.

Sat in the heart of Birmingham, there are over 180 stalls to peruse; each selling something cute and Christmassy from nutcrackers to baubles. It was such a lovely evening, it made me feel like a little girl again as I walked through the crowds with a big grin on my face!

If you live near Birmingham I would highly recommend a trip, last night (Saturday night) was very busy but I expect it would not be quite as busy during the day. It is open every day 10am-9pm until December 22nd – and best of all this fun festive experience is completely free!

I'm such a child when it comes to Christmas, I get way too excited whenever there is a vaguely festive activity, and I highly intend to return to the market. Better yet, there is also a Christmas market in my hometown of Bath so I will certainly be popping there once I've gone home for the holidays!

I don't know if it's too early to say it or not but...

Birthday Boots

So my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and one thing that I think I would like is a new pair of boots.

I've raved about my love of my New Look boots before (here and here) and even a year and a half on they are still so perfect and I love them. But I do sometimes find that the fur trim can be a little restrictive outfit wise. For example, I don’t like to wear a fur trimmed coat or cardi when I'm wearing the boots as I feel I look like Cruella De'Vil! Another issue I have with my gorgeous boots is that because of the fur I feel a bit silly whenever I wear them in the less cold months, I think its just a little inappropriate to wear fur boots in August for example, which I did this year.

So, I've come to the conclusion that a new pair of ankle boots it what I need. I want to keep things fairly simple, I'm thinking a tan colour or black and a little heel, preferably a little chunky heel and I'm in luck as ankle boots seem to be everywhere at the moment!

I had a birthday treat email from Asos giving me free delivery and 10% so off I popped to asos.com to see what boots they have. Boy, did they have a good collection, but sadly nothing that was quite what I was looking for, or within the budget I have. (But don’t worry I'm sure I’ll find some way to spend my discount, after all it would be rude not to!)

I then went to New Look where my old trusty boots came from and I pretty much found what I was looking for, and at sale price too! But I'm not sure if I love the studs on the side – I know studs are all the rage right now, but I want these boots to last me years so I think the classic look is what I should go for. I'm also conscious that I don’t want to get a boot that is too western in style, as again this categorises it too much and I want this to just be my black boots, not my black cowboy boots – you know?

I've been quite overwhelmed by the sheer number of options available to me, even on a relatively tight budget I've got boots coming out of my ears! But, I think I've narrowed it down to…

Carvella, KG, £130

New Look, £18.74

Oasis, £68

Zara, £50

I'm going to take drag my boyfriend round the Bullring at some point over the weekend to try these bad boys on and come to a decision!

Do you like the bootie trend? Which ones do you have?

The Hills Are Alive With Style

This weekend I've been doing a lot of studying and as little work breaks I've been treating myself to watching The Hills from the first season.

If you've read my blog before you're likely to know that I have a weakness for any semi/scripted reality show and The Hills is no exception. In fact it was with Laguna Beach (LC's story before The Hills) that I first caught the bug, and many years down the line I still love it!

I've always had a lot of respect for Lauren Conrad, star of Laguna Beach  and The Hills, she has a lot of self respect and despite living in Hollywood is a really nice and genuine person (or she seems like it from my TV screen haha)

She also has great style, she tries out new trends but teams them with classics so she never seems to get it wrong! Here's how to get her current look for less!

LC 2

Instead of Chanel, try this bag from Zara at just £23
